Another One Retires

When I finally got word today on ESPN radio that Warren Sapp was announcing his retirement the same day of Brett Favre's retirement press conference I really thought that that was odd, even for Sapp. Throughout his 13 year career Sapp was always in front of the microphone and getting some type of attention for something and he chose to do this quietly was shocking. I won't spend much time with this but Sapp certainly had his ups and downs in the NFL. The downs which more people tend to remember are his bumping of an official in 2003, 3 personal fouls that led to an ejection this past season, and of course the never forgetting late hit on Green Bay's Chad Clifton in 2002. I always thought of Sapp as the most dominating player at the Defensive Tackle position I have ever seen. Sapp finished with 96 1/2 sacks at a position that usually puts you on your butt being in the trenches of the middle. Though, he sure needs to repair his image during his retirement from the game, Sapp in my opinion will be joining Favre on the potium of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 5 years.

Big deal, the most overrated D-linemen in the history of the sport is retiring!! Who cares? He was never that good against the run, and towards the end barely got his fat ass off the line of scrimmage, never mind rushing the QB. Hell, it was a positive if he wasn't on his back every play.As far as I'm concerned he should go into the HOF right after Dana Stubblefield, Dan Wilkinson, and Mike Golic.
