Did the Time Fit the Crime?

A few months ago before Michael Vick pleaded guilty for his role in the dogfighting case, I remember all the legal experts and analysts saying that if Vick wants a short sentence he has to prove it before the sentencing in December. Well, he didn't do what was best for him, again! Instead, he did some lying, failed a drug test, then lied some more. The U.S. District Court Judge Henry Hudson on Monday sentenced Vick to 23 months in a federal jailhouse and with good behavior could be out by May of 2009. Vick's decision making through the years has been nothing less than idiotic during his professional career. We have been listening to his "so-called" apologies for years and you know what I am tired of them. In my personal opinion he does deserve to do some time and reflect on his life and think back on all the people that have tried to keep him away from trouble, to which he shrugged them all away. Now, he must do some time because the people that he trusted the most, and thought were the best to handle his business and stay with him through good and bad ratted him out and now he has to deal with that. I really thought that a year would have been fine, but Vick never helped his own cause. By the time that Vick gets out of prison he will still only be 30 years of age. Still, young enough to make a very impressive turnaround and prove to everyone that he is a changed man and live a very meaning life for himself. It might not be on the field, but Vick is being given another chance at redemption. When he gets out he'll be back where he started before he drafted, broke. As his lawyer, Billy Martin said, "Never has someone fallen so hard, so fast and so far." The best thing that could happen for Vick out of this is to make a dramatic change in his social, spiritual, and his outlook in life to finally prove that he is truly sorry, but this time showing it.
