Spurs verses...

OK, OK...so i barely watched any of the Western Conference Finals, safe to say that I had better things to do with my time. But, I would catch the highlights and do the occasional flip/flop with the remote. For as strong as the Western Conference is suppose to be, again I do not watch a lot of the regular season, why was this series such a sleeper? I think that I have a couple of answers to that question being a NBA Playoff fan.

3) The Spurs are boring to the regular NBA fans...This is me speaking, honestly they really are a great TEAM, they play as a TEAM, and win or lose as a TEAM! Tim Duncan is not flashy, they don't run and gun, they really play great defense, and they play the physical game which I love. From my perspective the true NBA fan loves the fast paced game with high flyin dunks, and alley oop passes, and with the fancy around the back of the backboard to himself for the tomahawk jam. Sorry not this guy. I would have watched more of the Spurs/Jazz series but it was toooooo over matched, I knew that the Jazz had no chance. The Spurs are a disciplined team and your going to have to live with it America because they are not done winning yet!

2) Golden State upsets the Mavericks in Rd 1... Don't get me wrong this was great as a whole for the NBA, making the NBA look more balanced as a league. It would have been a lot better if the Warriors ended up in the Western Conference Finals instead of getting abused against the Jazz, though. You cannot tell me as a fan of the NBA that seeing a Mavericks/Spurs final doesn't sound kinda sweet. We would have had the NBA's MVP facing off against a great champion in Tim Duncan, come on! I was routing for the Warriors all the way in that series, but once we got to the point of the Western Finals I was saying to myself, "Damn...sure would have been better if the Warriors went home in round 1 instead."

1) Robert Horry kills the Suns/Spurs series...I knew that this series was done once the suspensions were handed out. Tough break for the NBA, they had what they wanted Suns/Spurs. The nation wanted to see this, hell, I was pumped to see this series. Then my boy, big shot Rob, took out the leagues perennial white boy, and that stupid leave the bench rule comes into effect and that's the series. I don't care how well the suns played in game 5 they were done! The series that everyone was talking about turned sour and then it was over in six. I much as I can sit here and tell you that the leave the bench rule is stupid, it's a league rule. Assistant coaches, hell they have enough of them, should have been all over that once Nash hit the floor. But, what are you going to do, better luck next year Nash. I hope that you get yours before your done.

Hey, this is what we got...Spurs verses the winner of the Detroit/Cleveland series. I really think that if the Cavs somehow find a way to get past the Pistons, the Spurs will have no prob with Lebron. And Tim Duncan, will be sitting in front of us with 4 titles under his belt...amazing! And I really think that the NBA is praying for Lebron in the finals, from a ratings stand point. But, if your a basketball fan, as I am, you want the Pistons and the Spurs. This is basketball...physical defense, passing, discipline, and no stars!

Series Even at 2

I gotta admit, I didn't see this coming! I'll be honest i watch as much NBA during the regular season as it rains down in Florida, which is to say not very much! Also, I didn't give the Cavs a chance in this best of seven series against the Detroit Pistons. Now, I have watched the playoffs faithfully, except of course the boring Spurs/Jazz series that I can say I have seen maybe a quarter of. But, this series is very exciting, I really hope that Lebron pulls it off. The play of Daniel Gibson has been nothing less than superb! In last night's game Drew Gooden hit every 16 footer that matter in the 4th. My guess is that the Pistons are going to come back strong and win game 5 in Detroit. But, don't be surprised if Lebron and company pull off the upset. This series has really caught my attention, but I doubt that it will make me a NBA superfan as I once was.

ARE YOU KIDDIN!!!

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Hogzilla is being made into a horror movie. But the sequel may be even bigger: Meet Monster Pig. An 11-year-old boy used a pistol to kill a wild hog his father says weighed a staggering 1,051 pounds and measured 9 feet 4, from the tip of its snout to the base of its tail. Think hams as big as car tires. If the claims are accurate, Jamison Stone's trophy boar would be bigger than Hogzilla, the famed wild hog that grew to seemingly mythical proportions after being killed in south Georgia in 2004.Hogzilla originally was thought to weigh 1,000 pounds and measure 12 feet long. National Geographic experts who unearthed its remains believe the animal actually weighed about 800 pounds and was 8 feet long.Regardless of the comparison, Jamison is reveling in the attention over his pig."It feels really good," Jamison said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "It's a good accomplishment. I probably won't ever kill anything else that big."Jamison, who killed his first deer at age 5, was hunting with father Mike Stone and two guides in east Alabama on May 3 when he bagged Monster Pig. He said he shot the huge animal eight times with a .50-caliber revolver and chased it for three hours through hilly woods before finishing it off with a point-blank shot.Through it all, there was the fear that the animal would turn and charge them, as wild boars have a reputation for doing."I was a little bit scared, a little bit excited," said Jamison, who lives in Pickensville on the Mississippi border. He just finished the sixth grade on the honor roll at Christian Heritage Academy, a small, private school. His father said that, just to be extra safe, he and the guides had high-powered rifles aimed and ready to fire in case the beast, with 5-inch tusks, decided to charge. With the animal finally dead in a creek bed on the 2,500-acre Lost Creek Plantation, a commercial hunting preserve in Delta, trees had to be cut down and a backhoe brought in to bring Jamison's prize out of the woods. It was hauled on a truck to the Clay County Farmers Exchange in Lineville, where Jeff Kinder said they used his scale, recently calibrated, to weigh the hog.Kinder's scale measures only to the nearest 10, but Mike Stone said it balanced one notch past the 1,050-pound mark."It probably weighed 1,060 pounds. We were just afraid to change it once the story was out," he said. The hog's head is being mounted by Jerry Cunningham of Jerry's Taxidermy. Cunningham said the animal measured 54 inches around the head, 74 inches around the shoulders and 11 inches from the eyes to the end of its snout."It's huge," he said. "It's just the biggest thing I've ever seen."Mike Stone is having sausage made from the rest of the animal. "We'll probably get 500 to 700 pounds," he said.Jamison, meanwhile, has been offered a small part in "The Legend of Hogzilla," a small-time horror flick based on the tale of the Georgia boar. The movie is holding casting calls with plans to begin filming in Georgia.Jamison is enjoying the newfound celebrity generated by the hog hunt, but he said he prefers hunting pheasants to monster pigs: "They are a little less dangerous."___Associated Press writer Jay Reeves in Birmingham contributed to this report.

If this is true I will tell you this much there are wild hogs all over the south including the city that I live in even in the woods in back of the baseball fields that I tend to. If I ever, ever, see anything that size near my ass, I will be on the next flight to Hartford I can tell ;you this much!

Memorial Day

Today marks the day where we honor our fallen soldiers that risked their lives fighting to keep our country free. Usually today is a day where families and friends gather and have food on the grill while drinking the occasional beer or soda. I must admit that we forget what the reason for this day is. Years ago, I was on a family trip to Arlington National Cemetery, it is a place everyone should visit. It is a site like no other. All the head stones lying in a field. All fallen soldiers who did not know us, but died for our cause. So today, let us be thankful for what we have and what have had through the years because of the men and women that have served this country and passed on. Thank you.

"You will always be remembered, when we salute our flag you are remembered, when we enjoy our freedom, you are remembered, as long as Liberty and Justice prevail, and America is America, you will always be remembered."

PREDICTIONS

It took a while but the self-proclaimed most improved player of 2006 came to his final predictions for the 2nd annual Midland Invitational Tournament. Before I give my opinions on this tournament I just hope that there is no love lost between us because we all know that it would be a totally different tournament with me in the CT. Also, i expect a tournament when i come back the week of July 4th to get my Hall of Fame points up. Here it goes....

DIVISION A

As my counterpart shorty already informed you, this is the toughest division for the top 3 teams to come out of. Very, very difficult! It's hard not pick JJ and The Kid to runaway with the division,so I won't do it. Gibby and The Rick will win this division, because their defense is sick, always has. They won't win it by much, but Gibby will not and can not fail to get the first round bye. With that, JJ and The Kid will finish in second and JJ won't be pleased. The third and finally position in Division A is going to come down to who wants it the most, and my feeling is The Mif needs to prove is status of being an elite. We all know about his run with JJ and Ithink that I can speak for most who say JJ has always been Mif's Jordan! So I fully expect Mif to come out firing with his new and my former teammate Kelvin riding along side. I think that Kel will be fine and confident, if you don't believe me just ask him he'll tell you. Sorry to Snack and Chris, and Shorty and Pat. It's just not in the cards for the Wrenn family going on the roads to the in laws.

DIVISION B

Before Shorty's odds I made up my mind that the Irishman and KO were going to take this division and I will not change now. The rookie Irishman I have full confidence in, and if Keith can win with Bri G as a partner in is home court, why not with the Irishman. Now we got 2nd and 3rd, this is where it is tricky. I really feel that the tiebreakers will be in affect after round robin play. So I had to ask myself, who would I want on my team to take the final shots when the games are down to the wire. And the two names left on the board that kept popping up were Murdz and Lamay. Ronbo and The Pitbull are going to intimidate every team with their will to win, and The Pig and Paul have no shot if the tournament lasts longer than its suppose to, because both of them as we all know will end up stupid drunk. So with that, I like Murdz and Lovins to finish with the second seed and following ever so closely Lamay with with his leashed cat JV.

PLAYOFFS

No matter how your playoff system goes, in the KO and Irishman bracket your going to have to get past a smart duo and they will not fold under pressure, so I see the semi final game, whoever they play, not to be close. So the KO/Irishman team defends home court and will walk easily into the finals. Remember my piece on Division A where JJ was not happy with his 2nd place round robin finish, well revenge will be in order as they face the divisional champs Gibby and The Rick. In what most of us like to call, an instant classic, this back and forth battle goes sour as Gibby gets called for two low tosses and The Kid strikes right back with a cup hit and sink(BANG, BANG)! And that would be the end of the Gibby and The Rick run at the title.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Where legends are made, where JJ has already two titles under his belt and The trusty Kid on his side playing his heart out for the self proclaimed MJ of beerdie. On the other side of the table we have the Irishman, looking to be the rookie of the year and with him, KO...sexy, clutch, smooth! Where home court advantage will play a factor throughout the tournament and more so in the finals,KO and the Irishman come from behind to steal their first tournament from the mighty JJ!

Good luck to all you guys! I wish i was there and miss you all! In honor of the Midland Invitational I will be wearing last years t-shirt at work tomorrow.

That's my story and I'm stickin to it!

my main objective

i would like to welcome everyone to the nutz. basically, i decided to enter in on my own blog so that i can not only fill you guys up north on my life in the sunshine state. but, i can also give my opinions on sports, movies, books, and all the other happens in the world since i can not discuss these events with my fellow peeps. also, i am not trying to compete with anybodies other blogs(shorty). i don't even know how to put pictures on this site yet. so bare with me everyone and all comments are greatly appreciated! thanks!

my first blog! not a good one!

For my first posting on this site I will have to start it on a sour note. Earlier this morning, all employees for the city of Palm Coast were on high alert. Usually, when the city is on high alert, this means that we are expecting a bad hurricane or tornado that they found on radar. Until I spoke to my lead foreman, i wasn't too scared. When he gave me the news...I was terrified!

At about 8:00 a.m. Palm Coast's city hall was given a threat that a gentleman, whose name i will not identify, was going to leave his city department with a bang! This gentleman has had treatment in the past for depression and anger management. Supposedly, he was told that he was going to be suspended and possibly fired for his continued rage on the job and kept refusing to take his medication. So after being notified of his upcoming suspension, he went to his psychologist and told him/her that if he got fired from his job working for the city that he was going to leave there with a bang, and will probably be unavailable for his appointments anymore. The man then went home from his doctor's and he called his friend(who is also a city employee)and gave the same disturbing news and told him to say away.

As far as i know today his friend came in to work and notified his lead man. With that, the lead man notified city hall, and city hall with the public works departments, were evacuated. And yet, other departments were not, and we all were told was to stay alart for a city employee with a gun. That's it! If you were to come in contact with this person you were to call 911 and run away. Thanks! Let me think about that, if the person that I don't even know what he looks like or what kind of car he is driving approaches me, what should i do..."Excuse me are you the crazy city employee that wants to kill all of us?"

As of right now the crazed man is still not found and from what I understand it will be business as usual for all city employees tomorrow. On a good note, I am fine, just confused with the way my city handled this whole operation.
