Greatest Season of All-Time

I am back again counting down my top 20 favorite greatest seasons of all time before the turn of the century. The closer to number one I get the harder it is. Today, we go to the National Basketball Association for the first time and the player is the greatest player of my era.

The season was the 1987-1988 season, and Michael Jordan was beginning to hit his stride as a NBA player. The commercials were being displayed, and the hype was on. Jordan didn't win his first championship til '90-'91 season but this season was his best individual season in my opinion. Jordan led the league in scoring that season averaging 35.0 points per game, which was an amazing average for that time. He became the only player in the history of the game to win the scoring title and Defensive Player of the Year in the same season. The average of 3.2 steals and 1.6 blocks was hard to argue. Leading the league in total points scored, field goals made, and minutes played along with everything else I already mentioned gave Jordan the League MVP Award unanimously. On top of the season awards Jordan received Jordan scored 40 points in the All-Star game in Chicago taking the All-Star game MVP award as well as winning the Slam Dunk Contest the day before in a great battle with Dominique Wilkins in front of his homecourt fans. The only thing that was missing out of this season was the elusive title, but he'd get a few before his career was up.
