Happy Fathers Day, Dad!

My Dad, the greatest father a son could ask for. My father has worked his, pardon my french, ass off his whole life to make the best for his family with very little in return. The man who put the bat in my hand. Who put up the 9 foot basketball hoop up in the backyard and added a cemented patio for a little court. The man who coached me in soccer and baseball for years. The man who gave it to me when I messed up and patted me on the butt when I succeeded. The man who if I asked for extra batting practice after his practice with his high school team, even though he already worked a 10 hour day on top of that, would do it for me. You are my inspiration and my hero. To the man that has always been there for me in good times and bad, thank you pops for being such a great dad. Love you!

I love beer...

Today, I worked an eight hour day with the weather up in the 80s all day. I knew before I went in this morning that I had to cut my lawn after work. I got home and it was still hot out. But, I said to myself when I finish mowing the lawn I will enjoy a tasty beverage of choice, so on I went to care for the lawn. After finishing the lawn and putting down some red ant killer(nasty mother f'ers ask me about them when I come back) and went inside the house for a tasty cold Miller Lite. Ahhhhhhhhh!

After my tasty Miller Lite, I went off to the local Superette named Albertsons and bought a 12 piece of fried chicken for $3.99, that's right $3.99 and its better than greasy KFC. I got home went in the fridge and grab my all-time favorite beer Sam Adamms Cherry Wheat. I sat down with my chicken and beer and HBO was playing the movie 61, so I ate and drank and lounged. Ahhhhhhh!

This got me to thinking, me and my pals have been a fan of beer for a while and its hard to decide whats the best. Well, to be quite honest, Miller Lite is a distant 2nd to my Sams Cherry Wheat. Here are some of my favorites in no order, please comment:

BUSCH LIGHT- The Champagne of beers! Greeeaaat for parties and drinking games. Cheap up north and you can't find it in the south. This beer was drank so much in my early twenties it has just become a part of me. I miss you Busch Light, but I don't miss going to the bathroom every 5 minutes when I shove you down my esophagus.

BUD LIGHT- Another great beer, usually for an after softball game beverage or parties that are willing to spend the extra five bucks for this type. Everyone drinks Bud Light, if they don't they probably don't drink or are alcoholics that need hard liquor instead. Nothing beats a Bud Light at the game or after the game with the guys.

CORONA- Well what can I say? Kev-o got me hooked. Soooo good in the summer time and I cannot explain why. It goes down so nice, but honestly whats with the lime? That's like giving Jessica Simpson a boob job, it just doesn't need to be done!

HARP- A great irish beer that nobody knows about. Very expensive and should only be drank casually or with a big meal. It's so good, once it hits your lips your hooked!

Killians Irish Red- Ok, ok, so i went there. My dad would kill me if I didn't mention the irish red. There hasn't been many, but my father and I have shared a couple Killians once or twice and those moments are cherished and just so you all know it doesn't happen often that my dad drinks. Killians is smooth and rich in taste, most don't care for it but they are probably not of irish descent.

Yea...Basketball season is done!

It's finally over! Wish that the finals went quicker but all it took was four games for the San Antonio Spurs to become NBA Champs and one of the great dynasties of our era. Tony Parker was named Most Valuable Player in the finals and well deserved. I wish that I was Tony that night, I am sure that his wife was very creative, oh man. Did anyone see Eva jump on top of him, i thought that they were going to do the nasty right there at mid court. Lebron James had a sub-par series at best and now we can say he is not the next Jordan. I don't care how much talent was around him, I saw him give up the ball way too much in this series. Now would that have made a difference in the series, no. Did he single-handedly take the Cavs on his shoulders to the finals, yes. Does he need a Pippen, yes. I am just tired of the Jordan comparisons that it makes me want to vomit. There is only going to be one Jordan, GET OVER IT, MEDIA! Lebron will be back though, and more hungry. Now that the NBA season is over I can concentrate more on the baseball season, college and pro, and golf. Congrats to Timmy Duncan, the future Hall of Famer is doing something that we will look back on and say, "Wow, he was incredible!" Robert Horry, who has now 7 rings...Hall of Famer? Discussion for another day. And to Tony Parker for winning the title and going home with that every night!

I wish that this next clip came out better, but all that you need to do is listen to Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawerence talk. This movie is my #1 favorite comedy but this is the only scene I could find still is hilarious! From the movie Life:

I was at that game part 2...

This is a tough one for me to post but not long ago we went to go see the Red Sox face off against my Mariners again (just so you all know most of the games my blog will be M's games). At this point I had seen the M's win 6 straight times when I went to the game, but I knew that we were in trouble when the mighty and at his prime Pedro Martinez took the mound. This was the first of two times that I saw Pedro pitch against the Mariners and both times the outcome wasn't a good one on my side. This game wasn't even close! But what is memorable for me is that this would be the first complete game by a pitcher that I got to see live. The Sox were killing them and in steps Jay Buhner with no one on base, which was most of the case during the game, and he hits a bomb over the monster for a solo shot. This would also be the famous "Hit 'em Pedro, hit 'em!!" game. This guy behind us must have yelled this at least 20 times during the game and as Buhner rounded third to home he decides to yell, "Hit 'em now, Pedro!!" I was in tears in more way than one!

I haven't been to many classics like others but i would like to share with you all about some of my favorite moments being at live Major League Baseball games. Enjoy! If you have some fill me in on the comments.

My first game seeing two players have multi-HR games...This was a while ago, probably about 8 years ago. I was working at Hopson and Motzer and they set up a bus trip to see the Yankees host the Seattle Mariners and so I jumped at the opportunity. Told a bunch of friends and we went to the game. It was an up and down high scoring game that saw Jorge Posada hit his second homerun deep into the bleachers in the bottom of the seventh to take a 2 run lead. And as I recall the Yankee fans that came to the game (Jon and Matt Fiderio and The Short guy) jumped all over me being a Mariner fan and all. But, they celebrated too soon because in the next inning the Yankees would blow it. The Mariners scored 5 times in the 8th with help from Alex Rodriguez' 2nd Bomb being a 3-run blast into the black of center field and the M's would hold on to the victory and it was a sweet ride back home on the bus for me.

The College World Series is here

Since the world has been pretty busy with The Sopranos, Roger Clemens, French Open, The Red Sox, The NBA Finals, and Paris Hilton has anyone noticed that the College Baseball Super Regional Play has been going on...I didn't think so!

Well, tell you the truth they really haven't marketed it very well either. I personally love the College World Series. The bats, the fans, the drama, and more importantly the dugout cheers. My personal favorite is the shaking of the ball inside the hat!

Here's what's been going on: Mississippi State advanced to the Series after being the last team to qualify to make the regional tourney. The Tarheels advanced after beating the South Carolina Gamecocks in the second game of a double header yesterday, try to find the highlights...great game. Rice and Cal State Fullerton took care of Texas A&M and UCLA very easily. Same goes for Arizona State and UC Irvine who swept Mississippi and Wichita State respectively. Louisville advanced again surprising the college baseball world by scoring 20 runs verses Oklahoma State yesterday. And the final team to represent the College World Series will be either the defending champs from Oregon State or my boys from Michigan.

Game 2 is tonight on ESPN 2, they battled in a real pitching duel yesterday with Oregon State coming out with the 1-0 win. If Michigan can pull off the upset the next couple of days they will make it to the Series for the first time since 1984. After surviving and beating the #1 seed and favorite this year in Vanderbilt, in the Regionals, Michigan is ready for the next step and I am finally able to wear my Michigan baseball jersey with pride now. Michigan is not only representing themselves this year but the entire Big Ten who haven't had a school in the College World Series since the Wolverines made it in 1984. Watch for Nate Recknagel and Jason Christian. Two major prospects in the making. GO BLUE!

I don't care what you all say about these scenes but to me I laugh for minutes. Remember that these are scenes not moments. Also, I am having a tough time with 7,8, and 9 on my list because youtube offers only so much, my top 5 is to die for. Number 9 is from the movie Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood.

Unsatisfying or Brillant

It's 10 minutes after 10 o'clock, I get a call from my close friend and he yells into the phone..."ARE YOU $#!&%! KIDDING?"

After the final episode of the Sopranos, not only did I think that the cable went out, but it left me wondering. Like it always had since the first season. Though, a lot of us will be pissed and wanting more because of all the invested time we put in every Sunday night during the shows airing, I still finished the show the same way as I always had, pondering whats next.

A lot of answers still have not been made clear but that is the beauty of this final season. Whatever you want to think happened! I loved the way that Phil died...priceless! Paulie was looking at Tony weird throughout the show, I thought that was very odd. Janice was being Janice. Also, which I thought was a very touching moment, when Tony went to see Sil and there was no words spoken and Tony just grabbed his hand. I am really going to miss this show, more than any other. More than The Fresh Prince of Bel Air!

Do you all really think after the fabulous job that Chase has done though the years that he was going to have a true ending? Not me! This also leaves outs to the show. Is there going to be a movie?...Will some young director later on take over with a new cast and finish the storied Soprano show? Either way I am fine with the ending, in fact I think that this is how it went...

As Meadow comes walking through the door, Tony gives a big smile. The gentleman walks out of the bathroom and Tony notices him fixing at his shirt, like he is wearing a wire. Tony smiles again. Turn up the music of "Don't stop Believing" then credits. And the story continues...

Simple enough!

The Spurs big three scores 67...Lebron is held to 4 for 16 from the field with one assist...too many second chance opprotunities for the Spurs...and basically the Spurs let everyone know in game one that this will be their series and controled the tempo throughout. Mike Brown better figure something out and soon!

Tough one Curt...

Curt Schilling yesterday afternoon had a no-hitter for 8 and two-thirds of a game and lost it when Shannon Stewart ripped a line drive base hit to right field to break up the no-no attempt. This hasn't been the first time that Schilling has taken no-hitters into the ninth. And this is his 3rd career no hitter to boot. On a personal note, Curt Schilling had pitched no-hit ball for 6 and a third innings verses the Mariners and I was in the stands. This was the longest a pitcher went that far without giving up a hit when I was in attendance. Most of my friends were at this same game with me so in my free time the next couple of weeks I will be giving you my favorite MLB moments that I have seen live.

Favorite Comedy Scenes...

During the next couple weeks I will be giving you my top 10 comedy scenes that I came up with off the top of my head, hope that you enjoy! Here we go with number 10 from Bruce Almighty:

As the NBA Finals starts Thursday night at 9 o'clock on ABC there are a few keys to this series that keeps on poppin up in my head. Let's be honest, the Cavs are big underdogs. I haven't seen any NBA insider pick the Cavs yet. Not that I will, but in order for Cleveland to make this a series that we all hope for, some things need to play out in their favor.

And here they are:

Will Bowen frustrate James? I think this might be the biggest key for Cleveland. Bowen is a great defender. All-Defensive 1st team the last four years, a very physical and psychological player, and with his teammates he plays great help defense. James cannot, cannot, let Bowen get in his head in this series with his physical game and don't think that Bowen won't try.

Who is going to stop Duncan? Who? Drew Gooden...will be in foul trouble in the first quarter. Who? Zydrunas Ilgauskas...can't run with him and is not as cordinated. Who? Anderson Varejao...I love this kid! He works his ass off night in and night out and has shown signs of the next level in the post-season this year. He'll front him, he'll run up and down with him, and he'll body him. The Cavs are really going to need this kid in the next two weeks, even on the offensive end to get Timmy in foul trouble.

Will the bench continue to play big? Daniel Gibson has been sensational this post season, not just in the conference finals either. We just weren't paying attention to the other series that the Cavs were in. Donyell Marshall is going to have to hit the shots when they need him too. I have seen him too many times miss shots, and not just the game 1 three, miss 3 after 3 in the forth quarters in the playoffs. Eric Snow will play solid and very rarely will he turn the ball over, also the only Cav to ever be in the Finals. And my boy Anderson Varejao, keep playin hard young buck and frustrate Tim Duncan with your pick and rolls and back to the basket defense.

Finally, will inexperience play a part in this series? I doubt it. Lebron and the young Cavs are going to play their buts off. I just hope that they don't over exuse themselves and play the type of basketball that got them there. Like a said early Eric Snow is the lone Cav that has been to the Finals, while the Spurs have a handful and some that have boosted up the NBA titles.

I gotta say, I will be routing for a great series first and the Cavs second. Lebron has a lot on his shoulders in the series. Tim Duncan is looking for his 4th ring. Really 4th, like as many as Shaq, more than Larry! I hope it'll be a good series so here's the pick!

I'm back in the Sunshine State

It's good to be back, but what a weekend I had with my friends. Although, I didn't get to see everyone that I wanted to, I am very glad that I made the three day trip. My liver and kidneys could really use the rest and terms like..."happy hands" and "DL" and "best man" makes me want to come back for more fun and I can't wait til July gets here. At first I started to blame every one's favorite pig for my hang-overs each day that I was in the CT. But, by Sunday morning, I think that it was my own fault. I knew what I was getting myself into, just wasn't ready for it. I finally got to see The Sopranos on Tuesday night when I got back and I gotta say, if the season is going to end why not this way! The writers, as my trusty lead man Shorty(badchoicemilk.blogspot.com) has already wrote, have done a phenomenal job this season with so many of us willing to criticize every plot that they made. And I haven't had to do that once. Its hard for me to write that The Sopranos is going to be over for good after next week. Sunday night baseball better have some good games these next months, because this guy's needs something to interest my ass. Baseball opinions, golf, college world series, and since I don't go to the cinemas dvd rental are on the list of things to come. A Superstar has Grown!

In one of the greatest performances in my lifetime. Lebron James took Game 5 from the Detroit Pistons, in a game that saw 2 overtimes and a young kid not willing to lose. Every possession was in Lebron's hands in the final minutes of the forth quarter and the two overtimes. If you missed it, don't worry, you'll see it again, and again in the days, months, and years to come. Scoring 25 of his team's final points and totaling 48 for the game, truly was a night that Lebron and I will never forget!
